This anthem is written for SATB a cappella choir, and is intended for use in the Liturgical life of the church, specifically to be sung during the penitent seasons of Advent or Lent. The lyrics are based on the II Chronicles 7:14-16 and Isaiah 57:14-15 texts (“If my people who are called by my name shall seek my face, then I will hear from heaven …”). The lyrics resolve victoriously in the end, with the text, “His mercy endures forever, Amen!” Composed for an Advanced Intermediate choir, the piece has an arching chorale in the middle sections where the sopranos are expected to sustain a relatively high tessitura. The song is 03:27 in length.
